My name is Damola, and I am optimistic about the future.
I am an adventurous social entrepreneur interested in intersects of innovation and the future of education and governance leveraging technology and leadership. I believe in the potential of [young] people to productively create exponential moon-shot solutions to existing ‘glocal’ problems, while developing systems.
Over the summer of 2017, I worked with the team at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University on Artificial Intelligence and Inclusion (with a focus on Africa and the ‘global south’) as part of the ethics and governance of artificial intelligence for public interest initiative, while also tinkering with digital economy and digital citizenship themes.
Prior, I co-ran the first digital innovation hub in Ogun state, Nigeria, LEAD Resources Innovation Hub (where I led the research team, dabbled in investments cum the building of a local angel’s network), co-led trainings on understanding the new economy/revolution, advised and contributed to several other experimental initiatives across agriculture, business, technology, media, politics, and education sectors.
In 2009, I founded AllforDevelopment.org to contribute to building young people for the future and promote education, leadership and participation in development. Together with other partners, we have since then contributed to policy development at several platforms – including the United Nations, World Economic Forum on Africa, Nigeria Education Innovation Summit etc –, and contributed to the success of diverse public and social impact initiatives including Studership, an annual international leadership initiative that has reached over 200 emerging leaders from over 35 countries, promoting values-based leadership, since 2012.
Honoured to be a recipient of a few fellowships and awards, including being a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (probably the youngest fellow in Nigeria since the inception of the RSA in 1754), RLC Fellow of the Young African Leadership Initiative, Hive Global Leader, Fellow of the CommonPurpose UK’s Global Leaders Experience, Fellow of the Social Leadership Academy USA, DESPLAY Fellow, Recipient of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award (by Junior Chambers International Abeokuta), Recipient of the 2016 African Youth Award for Excellence in Leadership and semi-finalist, Thiel U20 Fellowship for social innovators, among others.
I will look forward to interacting with you. Let’s connect over mail – damola (at) damolamorenikeji (dot) com.
